zu.com communications releases hot iPhone application: TimmyMe
Aug 20, 2008
An iPhone application named TimmyMe developed by two programmers at zu.com communications is currently the fifth most-popular free iPhone application. After only one day, over 4000 iPhone users around the world have downloaded it.
Co-developers Blaine Korte and Cory Jacobsen created the application during their free time. TimmyMe went live on August 18.
“We wanted something Canadian for iPhone users,” Korte says. “We love Tim Hortons and what’s more Canadian than that?”
TimmyMe leads you to the closest cup of Tim Hortons coffee using built-in geo-location. Once downloaded, users simply select the icon on their iPhone home screen and the five closest Tim Hortons locations are displayed. Once a location is selected, a Google map illustrates the exact route to the location.
It’s the fastest way to the nearest double double.
Customer reviews on the iTunes store declare, “I love it,” and “Finally an app just for Canadians.”
Korte and Jacobsen plan to offer more offline support for TimmyMe and display distances in both miles and kilometers. Future versions will also take up less bandwidth and offer more data, such as store hours and which locations have drive-throughs.
