Canada is in motion
Jun 05, 2008
Canada in motion is furthering its mission of helping communities across the country become more physically active with a brand new website, created by zu.com. The website is an important resource of information about physical activity. It also acts as a gateway to several other in motion community websites.
The Canada in motion site joins several others across the country, also created by zu, including: in motion, Saskatchewan in motion, Winnipeg in motion, Manitoba in motion and Abbotsford in motion.
“We are absolutely ecstatic with the results of the work zu provided with the development of our website,” says Don Ratcliffe-Smith, in motion National Consultant. “Their team approach, innovative ideas and ability to translate our ideas into reality made the process a very enjoyable and successful one.”
The Canada in motion website features a Personal Activity Log (PAL) that allows users to enter specific exercise goals on a calendar and track their progress. Many of the in motion websites contain similar features including: a news and events calendar, information about the health benefits of being active, where to be active, FAQs and research articles.
“The in motion websites make it easier for Canadians to get off the couch and become physically active,” says zu CEO Ryan Lejbak. “It’s great to be involved in such a worthwhile initiative that all of us can partake in.”
About in motion
The in motion program has achieved many successes since its creation. Aside from garnering much attention from Saskatoon Health Region residents and media organizations, many communities across Canada have approached in motion for advice on implementing their own physical activity health promotion models. To date, a number of communities have adopted the in motion model. Another measure of success, the in motion team has won numerous awards and have been asked to discuss their model in a number of national and international conferences. The added support of national corporate sponsorship lead in motion to move forward on a national basis.
