On Quality of Slide Presentations
Jun 10, 2008
Here we are in the bank of smaller meeting rooms for the Breakout Sessions. The screen is a boardroom-sized 8′ model, though the room is about 100′ long, and site lines aren’t great.
A note for presenters: if your slides have more than 20 or 30 words on your slide, the text is too small and your slide is a distraction to the audience. The solution is to break your slide into many more shorter slides with fewer larger words. Many folks have a habit of using their slides as print pieces, but please remember the main purpose in this situation is the presentation, so I’d suggest making the slides supportive for the speech, emphasizing key points, nor full sentences, etc.
Consider having a wordy version of the slides for the handout, and a presentation version for the show, for all the folks that aren’t using the handouts.
Thank you in advance (for next year!)
