NIRI Opening Reception
Jun 08, 2008
The NIRI Opening Reception (photos here) has drawn to a close. About 1300 attendees are at this conference and I am sure that they were all here tonight. The traffic and buzz around this evening was great. The reception was a family affair, with many attendees bringing their spouses and children. I thought this was a nice touch and a good way to ease into the more serious nature of NIRI tomorrow.

The food was top-notch and it seems like there was a lot of alcohol flowing. It was good to hear some IR chat and debates. I spent a lot of time blogging tonight, so did not get to involved in conversations, but from what I can tell XBRL, online annuals and investor-friendly websites seem to be some of the hot topics.
I was pleasantly surprised to see how many international delegates are at the conference. From Asia to Europe, and even my hometown Saskatoon, Canada, people have traveled from around the world to continue to improve their knowledge of Investor Relations.
Now off to find some NIRI parties!
